See ya, 2016.

I'm a little behind on the recap/new year posts but I had some time off for New Years and I really wanted to soak up every last moment of it before we grind on into the new year. I also failed my first test of the new year by writing 1/3/16 as the date yesterday. I'll figure it out by June, I'm sure.

Over the last year, I've made a few great new friends, strengthened relationships with some of my best friends, travelled a few new places and a couple of my favorite cities, learned SO much at work and had some amazing nights with my wonderful husband. I can't wait to see where 2017 takes us!

So just a quick little recap (mainly for myself, I know most of you don't care!):

January

I finally got to go to Chicago to visit my best friend, Katherine. Even though Delta thought it would be fun to delay my flight over 3 hours and force me to spring through ATL in full winter gear and barely make my layover while they shipped my luggage to Maine, it was still an amazing trip!
February

February brought my second recruiting trip to App State (I'm not a recruiter, but it was a blast to go back up there!). We even got some snow! I stayed in Boone and Christian and a few friends came up to meet me and we spent the weekend gorging ourselves on all our favorite Boone good views.

March

During my wedding ceremony, my mom surprised me with having my friend Maggie sing during our ceremony and March was her Bachelorette trip to Nashville. It was my first trip to Nashville and I'm already dying to go back! We did a trolley tour, had some Hattie B's hot chicken and listened to so much amazing music!

At the end of the month, Maggie and Derek tied the knot! Also, they have a blog and Derek is doing a new series on The Bachelor. You should read it.

April

One of the only months we weren't crazy busy was April. We spent it getting outside and soaking it up before it got too hot in Charlotte. Which honestly, is usually in March... This place is so hot.

May

My uncles have started this fun tradition where they all get married on or around my birthday for the last three years. Twice in Wilmington and once in Hawaii - this year was Wilmington! We spent the weekend in a big house with my whole family and we had such a fun time!
At the end of May, Katherine came to Charlotte for her first visit that wasn't wedding related and I gave her the grand tour of Charlotte. See this post for more about what to do for a weekend in Charlotte!

June

Christian and I took a week off in June for a little vacation. Except it turned into three mini vacations. We spent a few days in DC with Christian's best friend and sister, a couple days at home being completely lazy and then a few days at the lake with my parents.

July

I spent the Fourth of July in Charlottesville with my other best friend Kristin! As you guys have seen my post about before, I absolutely adore Charlottesville. We spent the weekend drinking beer,  doing a little hiking and eating a LOT of good food.

August

My mom has been a fan of Rick Springfield for.ev.er. I grew up listening to his music and listening to her tell my the stories of how she never got to see him in person because every time she had tickets she was sick or grounded. When I heard that he was coming to Charlotte, I immediately snatched us up some tickets. The night of the concert, we were able to upgrade to the 11th row and my mom was in heaven. It was so fun to get to do that with her and she had such a blast.

September

Last year, the Panthers had an amazing season that took them all the way to the Superbowl (as I'm sure most of you know), but this year.....not so much..... But when my grandparents offered us their season tickets to the first game of the season, you take them. Especially when they are in club level seats and the view looks like this:
October

October is always one of my favorite months of the year since Christian and I celebrate both our dating and wedding anniversaries, both my parents have birthdays and Fall begins. This year, we planned a wonderful Fall weekend back up in Charlottesville and as you've seen before, we had a blast.

On Halloween weekend, we celebrating Christian's best friend's wedding and it was absolutely beautiful. It was a little hotter than we all wished, but overall, the views were gorgeous and the wedding was beautiful.
November

We took a quick weekend trip up to Boone and soaked in some of these gorgeous views for two days and then grabbed some lunch at one of my favorite places.
And of course, the Holiday season began and I was a basket of happy the whole time.

We ended the month with a trip through lighted gardens at Daniel Stowe with some of those new friends I talked about earlier!
December

Whew. This last month has been an absolute haze for me. At work, I led 2 training sessions a day for 2 weeks straight and two of those days had night sessions involved where I didn't get home until close to 9p. By the time I was done with that, it was Christmas week and I was exhausted.

Christmas was still wonderful and we got to do our annual Biltmore trip which was so needed.

We ended the year with our new friends again and I'm so excited to see where this year takes us!
