The Mountains Called and I Answered

Whew. This Tuesday feels so much like a Monday. But, that's probably because I was off work yesterday because we spent the weekend in Charlottesville, VA with my best friend, Kristin, and her boyfriend!

I wrote about some great things to do in Charlottesville a few weeks ago and now I have a few more to add to the list after this weekend!

Friday // Queso.

We arrived in Charlottesville around 7pm and just in time to take some queso to the face. I was so hungry that I took zero pictures of my delicious fajitas and queso but I do know we went to Guadalajara and it was SO good. You'll have to just take my word for it.

That night we just hung out, had a few beers and caught up with each other!

Saturday // Apples and Dancing.

Saturday morning, we headed out for bagels at Bodo's Bagels that I mentioned in my last post and it was just as delicious as it was last time. It's amazing to me that the line was wrapped a few times inside and then out the door, yet we were seated with bagels in about 15 minutes or less. #efficient

We grabbed coffee at my favorite coffee shop up there, Shenandoah Joe's, and headed up to Carter's Mountain Orchard to pick some apples. The orchard was HOPPING Saturday morning - like, holy wow. Both Kristin and Jacob said they'd never seen it that busy. I guess it was just the perfect Fall day for apple picking!

This was actually my first time ever picking apples and we had a blast! After we climbed some trees (and some hills) we headed back down for some delicious hard cider and took in the gorgeous views of Charlottesville down the mountain.

After a quick cat nap, Jacob and Kristin made us some yummy homemade pizzas before we headed out to a 90's Dance Party at The Jefferson on the Downtown Mall. We had an absolute blast dancing to Spice Girls, Brittany Spears, and all those other amazing 90's stars we love so much. We probably danced for 4 hours almost straight and Kristin was pretty hoarse from singing when we left!

Sunday // Ouch.

Sunday we were all VERY slow moving after Saturday's shenanigans... Once we were prepared to move, we went out to grab breakfast/lunch... and then brought it right back home to the couch where we watched a couple moves and took naps.

Once we all recovered, we decided to do a little hike up to Humpback Rock on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Let me preface this: I do barre and I love barre. But, I don't really take the cardio barre classes because I hate cardio. Therefore, hiking can be rough for me. I always enjoy the benefits of the hike: endorphins, great view, good food after; but I struggle on the way up.

This particular hike was pretty short - around 2 miles roundtrip. But, it was basically straight up the entire time and I did have to stop a few times and the group was a trooper for letting me take a breather every so often. Man, oh man, was it worth it though. Prepare for a photo dump...

After the hike, we grabbed some hibachi and watched Deadpool.

Monday // See ya later, Charlottesville.

Jacob had to work Monday morning, but Kristin was off so we got up and headed to La Taza for breakfast. Charlottesville seriously has so many delicious gems and this is added to the list! It's in an area called Belmont and it's all so cute. This restaurant it so eclectic and the tables are made of big stumps and it's beautiful.

Everything on the menu looked SO good. Christian got breakfast tacos and they're were really good sized and I could barely finish mine!

It was such an amazing weekend and I'm already planning a trip back!
