Where's the Castle?!

Friday was one of the best days I've had in such a long time. I honestly wish I could do that every single day of my life. And Saturday was pretty great, too. I am one lucky, lucky girl right about now.

Friday

As I mentioned Friday, we headed up to Asheville around noon to explore the Biltmore's grounds some before our tour at 9:30p. Our first stop was the old farm site where we walked around looking at the old machinery and then walked around one of the gift shops and bought our first Christmas tree ornament together for our tree!

After that, we pet a few animals and the goat absolutely loved Christian. Sadly, it started sprinkling a little bit so we headed into the winery so we could do a little wine tasting. After tasting quiiiiiite a few wines, we decided we would buy two for Christmas Eve since he liked a red one and I liked a white one! And of course, we had to do the wine tour as well.

Sorry for the terrible quality.. it's the only one we got, sadly!
After the winery, we picked kind a restaurant to eat dinner and I've never spent more money on dinner before.... but it was SO worth it. There was so much food and we sat at dinner forever wanting to stuff more in! For dessert, they had tons to choose from but I had to get a Build Your Own S'more and I don't know how but they made a s'more taste better than normal!

Our view at dinner :)
We headed up to the house after that and I was like an excited little kid. On the shuttle from the parking lot, a little girl was with her parents and she kept asking the shuttle driver where the castle was and it was the cutest thing in the world!

After I stared at the house in awe for a solid 5 minutes, we walked around all the shops in the old stables and had quite a laugh at some the decorations people will buy. Then we treated ourselves to some apple cider and walked around to the deserted side of the house where we could look at the city lights on the mountains.

One of the store displays!
Right about the time we were supposed to line up for the house tour, it started pouring! Luckily, we didn't have to stand in the rain for too long before we got to explore the house. And OH. MY. GOD. How is it so big?? And so gorgeous?? But seriously, it's insane. I don't understand how anyone needs that much space! And I can only imagine how the full house actually looks. You only get to see a very select part of the house and I really wish it was possible to see ALL of it!

The house and the 50 foot Christmas tree!
And of course I had to get in the big tree ;)
After getting home at close to 1:30 in the morning, we passed out so quickly and of course slept in Saturday morning.

Saturday

Once we woke up, we headed to the grocery store which was reallyyyy needed. Once we got home, I made grilled cheese and tomato soup and we watched The Santa Clause and How the Grinch Stole Christmas and spent the whole day on the couch, snacking and cuddling with little Zukes because he doesn't like us snuggling with out him! He likes to wedge himself in between us or right on top of one of us - depending on whose blanket he likes better.

For dinner, I made one of our favorite: sour cream chicken and mac and cheese! It was such an amazing weekend full of love and Christmas and happiness that I was utterly depressed to go to work yesterday. It was painful - partially because I just didn't want to be there and partially because every call I got was useless and people were very rude.

glad you loved it! because im a nerd about Biltmore, there are few additional (extra $) tours you can take in addition to your house pass. I've done the rooftop and behind the scenes tours. Neatest thing, seeing her entire set of 1900's Louis Vuitton luggage
