Basic Training

Last Monday, my little brother left for Basic Training.
I have always been a huge supporter of our troops and I'm so thankful to the men and women who devote their lives to protecting our freedoms. But, I'm not going to lie and say that I was over the moon for my brother when he started discussing this idea about a year ago.

I thought he would change his mind before actually committing and there as a time where I was sure that would happen, but it didn't. He signed on the dotted line a couple of months ago and took off for Fort Sill last Monday.
After that, he'll head off to Arizona for another 16 weeks for more training. I'm still learning all the terms that go along with the military so I'm not sure what it's for.

As nervous as I am as a big sister, I'm also so proud of him for finding something he's passionate about and going after it. He was looking for something that he would love doing, and this is where his path brought him and I can't wait to see where he goes.
I made him bake cookies with me on Christmas Eve.
Today, he also turns 21 so it's a double whammy in terms of how old I'm feeling today. So, I guess I just wanted to wish this guy a happy birthday and ask you all to send him some good juju (or prayers if that's more your thing) as he gets through this next 9 weeks of basic! And send some juju to me and my mom that we can handle it, too!

Wow! Congratulations and good luck and thank you (and Happy Birthday!) to your little brother!! I have a younger brother, too, and I know I'd be going through all those emotions, too! Prayers, friend!

I have a younger brother too, and he considered the military for a bit after he finished high school. I remember being nervous during that time. Congrats and thank you to your brother...he is going to do great things for our country. You seem like a great sister and it looks like y'all have a wonderful relationship!
