Ouch.

Where do I even start with this weekend? All I can think is ouch. It was a rough one.

Let me set you up here with the weekend's original plan: my little brother and his girlfriend were going to come up Thursday afternoon to stay the weekend with me. Friday we were supposed to go to Carowinds with them since it was "Bring A Friend" week for $19.99. Saturday we were heading up to Boone to finish moving me out. I had a bed, dresser, nightstand and desk that needed to get out as well as the rest of my stuff like books, winter clothes, etc. The furniture belongs to my parents, so he was going to take it back to Georgia with his truck.

Here's what really happened...

My brother didn't come up. So Christian and I still went to Carowinds Friday and spent half the day riding roller coasters. I really love the whole season pass thing because we can go early, spend half the day and then head home when we get too hot or annoyed with people.

After the most glorious afternoon nap I've had in quite a long time, we decided to go see Pacific Rim. I wanted to see The Heat, but Christian wasn't having it so I caved because he heard it wasn't a typical action movie.

Okay, totally a typical action movie but it wasn't a typical alien movie. It had a slightly different take on the whole thing and it totally made me cry. That's the second action film this summer that has made me cry so I'm thinking I might be losing my mind. The first was Star Trek Into Darkness.

Friday night rolls around and my parents aren't coming up to help me move either. Christian drives a Mazda 6 and I drive a Civic coup. Yep, we can totally move an entire bedroom in those cars...

This wasn't even half of it...
I. Was. Livid. Even if I could have figured out a way to get everything to Charlotte, I was not paying to store it or taking up my entire living room with it until they  decided to come up and get it. Luckily, Christian's dad let us use his station wagon and we were able to move my stuff I needed to Charlotte. But, I wasn't able to bring any furniture down so we tossed the mattress, donated the dresser and someone snatched up my desk off Craigslist while we were driving up the mountain.

It wasn't the fanciest place and I'm definitely liking Charlotte's "fanciness" more, but it was home for two years.
But, since my family didn't come to help like they promised, this also meant Christian and I had to do all the moving and cleaning of my room. I also ended up with a TON of kitchen stuff to move out. I had already moved out all of my dishes/silverware/food/etc but somehow there were tons of things left in the kitchen for me to clean. I had to clean the counters, empty the pantry/fridge and clean out the freezer and fridge on top of getting everything out, steam cleaning the carpets and deep cleaning my bathroom.

I made so many memories here, and I'm very sad this chapter has ended but I know the next one will be great, too!
I've never been up and down three flights of stairs more in my LIFE. There were so many trash runs to the dumpster, so many heavy things to throw away and so much stuff to get into that car. I don't know how I got Christian to help and do so much of the heavy lifting for me. I guess that's how I know he's a keeper?!

It was 6 hours of non-stop moving, cleaning and errands and I was absolutely famished by the time we were ready to leave. Luckily, there's a Cook-Out on the way and we definitely sat our tired butts down and inhaled some greasy yumminess and a milkshake.

Once we got back to Charlotte and moved everything into my apartment, I was left with a giant pile of crap in the middle of my living room and very tired boyfriend. We made a beeline for the bed and went straight to sleep. When I woke up Sunday morning, my whole body hurt and the idea of going to work was physically painful.

Sadly, I did have to go and it was a decent day work-wise and a great day "entertaining co-worker" wise so it helped a little bit. I'm so glad I get along so well with everyone around me to break up the sometimes blah work days.

On a side note, Christian and I bought a fancy new vacuum for our new place! We did some research, compared what would be a better value for us and bought a pretty fancy Bissel. Only, Zuko thinks it was just a toy for him.

Sorry things didn't go as planned- but at least that's behind ya now, right?! Moving is definitely tough- especially if it's just two of you!!

Ugh moving out of my apartment was tough! It was bad enough to have to really say goodbye to college and then you add up all the packing/moving/walking/dumpster trips! I'm sorry it didn't go as planned :/ Christian's a rockstar for being the only one to pull through for you! And now I am wishing Cookout would make its way north because I could really go for a milkshake right now!

Wow, I'd be livid too! I'm glad you got everything figured out and Christian is definitely a keeper!! Moving out of an apartment doesn't seem bad at first but all the cleaning after everything is out is so obnoxious! I've moved a couple times from apartment to apartment and I always dreaded the cleaning haha
