Do you ever have one of those weekends where you didn’t do
anything extraordinary, but it was still a good weekend? That was this weekend
for us.
We sometimes dog sit through Rover and we had one of our
favorite little guests this weekend: Riley. He’s a collie/golden retriever and
oh so sweet. He loves to cuddle and he and Ellie play just enough to get tired
but not enough to be annoying about it.
We were pretty chill on Friday and went out to dinner (and
for the life of me I cannot remember where…) and then caught up on the DVR from
the week.
Saturday, I got the hair done! (Charlotte locals, go see
Catherine. Now.) I showed her like 5 pictures and gave her vague instructions
this go round and it still turned out just how I was picturing it. I have no
idea how she does it.

Once I got back from my appointment, Christian and I ran a
ton of errands: dropped of my engagement ring to get a tiny diamond replaced,
grabbed “linner” (because it was 4P) at Bad Daddy’s, did some Christmas
shopping and bought some storage items for our garage. Once we were finally
home, we played with the pups and watched the Iron Man marathon that was on TV.
Sunday, I got up and went to barre first thing so I could
start my day off right. After barre, we grabbed pizza for lunch and ran a few
more errands. While Christian waited to Riley’s parents to come pick him up, I
was in desperate need of my nails done so I ran off to the salon and watched
the end of that ridiculous Panthers game. Sometimes they really live up to that
Cardiac Cats nickname…
Once that was over, I stopped by the grocery store and then
we went to pick up my ring from the jewelers. Quick story:
A tiny side diamond was missing but I could obviously see
this with my bare eyes – no microscope needed. When we dropped it off, the guy
confirmed it was missing (duh) and then said it would take about 3 hours and we
could come back at 8p on Saturday. Well we came back at 5:30p on Sunday, so, you
would think the diamond would be fixed by then, right?
The salesperson handed my back the ring and asks how it
looks and I immediately see that the diamond is STILL MISSING. She didn’t even
notice it and just handed it right back. She then gets out the microscope to “confirm
it’s missing because sometimes it’s just dirt”. UMMMM, why would a brand new
diamond have dirt on it so badly that it looks like it’s missing…? After a
minute or so of looking to confirm, she’s like “oh my goodness, the diamond is
missing!” Why yes, that’s why I brought it in…
It took them less than 5 minutes to replace the diamond. So
I’m wondering what they were doing the rest of the 24 hours they had the ring??
Overall, we’ve had a great experience with our jeweler and I recommend them all
the time but this weekend was pretty weird.
And that’s all, folks. A pretty simple, productive and a little
bit lazy weekend in the books. My family is coming up Wednesday night to see
Fantastic Beasts with me on Thursday, visit my uncle whose in from Hawaii and
have our Thanksgiving on Saturday – it’s going to be a busy week!
